I know it is a suggestion that should be considered later on, but maybe you can have a small collection of different shinobi-ryu that compete for paid missions or something. Some sort of rivalry. Maybe you can introduce a samurai sort of thing as an opposition (as samurai and ninja views are practically polar opposites)
